HAIR CARE
Early bird coffee identity
Background: Natura Pimp was founded with a vision to redefine beauty standards for African women by encouraging them to embrace their natural hair textures and cultural heritage. The brand’s goal was to become more than a haircare line—Natura Pimp aimed to establish itself as a movement for self-love, empowerment, and authenticity.
Challenge: The African haircare market is saturated with brands that often overlook the cultural and emotional significance of natural hair. Natura Pimp needed an identity that would resonate deeply with its target audience, elevating it from a mere product to a premium lifestyle brand. My goal was to design a cohesive brand identity that not only reflected Natura Pimp’s mission but also connected emotionally with African women, encouraging them to see beauty in their natural hair.
My Role
As the Brand Strategist and Brand Identity Designer, I led the charge from concept to execution. Every decision was made to capture the brand’s essence while forging a strong connection with its audience.
Developing Brand Guidelines
To ensure consistency across all brand touchpoints, I created comprehensive brand guidelines. These guidelines articulate the brand’s visual identity, messaging, and tone, serving as a roadmap for future marketing efforts. This foundational document ensures that every piece of content aligns with Natural Pimp‘s mission of empowerment and authenticity.
My Process
Research and Discovery:
Conducted in-depth market research to understand the specific needs and desires of African women regarding hair care, utilizing surveys, interviews, and focus groups to gain insights into their pain points, aspirations, and product preferences.
Brand Ideation:
Based on the research findings, I brainstormed brand concepts that would resonate emotionally with the target audience, aiming to create a brand that felt relatable and empowering.
Visual Identity Development
LOGO DESIGN
Designed a minimal yet impactful logo featuring a stylized letter ‘N’ intertwined with leaves, symbolizing growth and a connection to nature. The logo reflects simplicity and elegance, aligning with the brand’s values.
Color Palette Selection
The color palette draws inspiration from nature, incorporating various shades of green and earthy tones. These colors evoke feelings of freshness, vitality, and harmony, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to natural ingredients.
Packaging Design
Created eco-friendly packaging that is visually appealing and sustainable. The design features clear typography and vibrant imagery that highlight key ingredients, making it easy for consumers to understand product benefits at a glance.
